First i wanted to let you know about a fantastic win fall that came my way about, oh almost two weeks ago. I was in the living room with the wife an young un's, when suddenly our doorbell rang. Now we don't git many visitors this why so naturally i got my banjo an my fire stick and and ask "WHO THE HELL IS IT???". Well as it turned out it was the neighbors, a delightful older couple. Turns out they were cleaning out there house and wondered if we wanted to take a look at a few things before they threw them out. Now just let me take a moment to tell you that i come from a long line of, how shall i put it, garbage pickers so i saw an opportunity to save me a trip to said garbage for said garbage picking so we all said "SURE"(we talk loudly). We checked the stuff out and man did we hit pay dirt. We made off with a bonanza of stuff. An old stereo with turn table, records to play on the turn table(the wifey and me love the sound of records), some old Christmas stuff and a whole lotta movies. Oh yes i said movies. There was a whole box of "All in the family" VHS tapes( we still have a VHS player and a back up one in case the main dies, were not DVD snobs here we just enjoy watching) there must have been at least 16 tapes and each tape had 4 episodes on it, that my friends is a butt load of Archie Bunker, am i right. there was also the whole first season of "South Park" and box set of "Planet of the Apes" all 5 movies. I'm very excited about the ape movies. I remember them vaguely as a kid, i was born in the early 70's, but i could'nt follow the intense story lines of the movies. I've watched the first 4 and as soon as i watch the last I'll write a post on my thoughts, so be on the lookout for that. Finally we also got a 3 disk set of old "Sinbad" movies, and i mean Sinbad the swashbuckler not, i repeat, not the lame comedian. I just mentioned the movies to someone today and they thought i was referring to the later, no, no, no. I'll also go into more detail on the Sinbad movies in a later post.
Wow, i didn't mean to go on that long about nothing so I'll keep the rest as short as possible and as sweet. I wanted to mention quickly "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood. I just finished it last night and i really, really liked it. Anybody out there who's a fan of books and movies like "1984" or "Children of Men" will definitely enjoy this book. In a way its very similar to "1984" but its main character is a woman and is told from her perspective, i found that very interesting. I strongly urge any fan of the dystopic tale to check it out if you haven't already. I know theres a movie based on it , but I've never seen it. I will keep me eye's out for it. Has anybody seen the movie? Let me know what you though about it, maybe somebody who owns a copy would like to send it my way for perusal. I would appreciate that and send it back promptly.
Thats it for now, i'll close with a short selection from the "The Handmaid's Tale", just a lil sumthing to whet your appetite. Later babies.
" It was after the catastrophe, when they shot the president and machine-gunned the congress and the army declared a state of emergency. They blamed it on the Islamic fanatics, at the time.
keep calm, they said on television. Everything is under control.
I was stunned. everyone was, I know that. It was hard to believe. The entire government, gone like that. How did they get in, how did it happen?
That was when they suspended the Constitution."

Everything is under control, right?
Be on the lookout for my next post in which we'll delve into such topics as: Colostomy bags, the ever rising cost of gas, homelessness and cheese wheels.
